Overview
In Autumn 2017, we designed an application called auroRA throughout a ten-week course (HCDE 318: Introduction to User-Centered Design) to improve the working experience of Residential Advisors.
Our Problem
Resident Advisors (RAs) at college are suffering from a tremendous amount of work, spread across a wide variety of fields, including writing and accessing a myriad of documents and dealing with emergencies. They need a tool to help them perform their job more efficiently in an effort to promote an improved work-life balance.
Our Vision
Our tool, auroRA, will make RAs’ lives easier by allowing them to write and submit reports more efficiently, to communicate with each other directly, to check protocols and policies effortlessly, and to access contact information of residents and other staff conveniently. This will help make their jobs easier and help them reach a better work-life balance.
We designed this system to have a whitelabel base, which can be adapted to any school that wishes to use it with their own vocabulary and form types. The documents showcased on this website feature a version of the service tailored for the University of Washington.
